Latifa Ibn Ziaten is a French-Moroccan activist. Her son Imad Ibn Ziaten, a service member of the French military, was killed in March 2012. He was the first victim of the terrorist Mohammed Merah. In the name of her son, Latifa Ibn Ziaten founded the Association Imad Ibn Ziaten pour la Jeunesse et la Paix, which aims to help young people in deprived areas and to promote secularism and interreligious dialogue in order to prevent religious radicalisation – the motto is “no more Merah”. In 2015 she received the Prize for Prevention Conflict by the Fondation Chirac, and in 2016 she received the International Women of Courage Award.
