Irina Ilisei is social researcher, civic education trainer and activist. She is founder and president of Plural Association where she coordinates international and national level projects with young people, teachers and youth workers – on topics such as anti-discrimination, memory work, gender equality and Roma issues. Irina Ilisei earned her PhD in Political Science in 2014 on the topic ‘Educational inequalities of the Roma in Romania’. She was fellow of the program Shaping Europe – Civic Education in Action of by German Federal Agency for Civic Education and the Robert Bosch Stiftung. Since then she worked as researcher and consultant for several NGOs and state institutions such as Council of Europe, Transparency International and Front/ Feminism Romania web platform. Her most recent publication looks on how the Romanian transition towards democracy shaped the situation of under-privileged social categories such as women, ethnic minorities and members of LGBT+ community.
