A Round Table with

Caroline Hornstein-Tomic, Institute of Social Sciences Ivo Pilar, Zagreb
Istvan Hegedüs, Hungarian Europe Society, Budapest
Jaroslaw Kuisz, Kultura Liberalna, Warsaw

Moderation: Jacek Koltan, European Solidarity Centre, Gdansk

This Round Table will consider what solidarity in Europe can and should mean today – against the background of the divisions in the continent along political, social and cultural lines. Looking at the Polish, Hungarian and Western Balkan experience, the complexities and drivers of the ‚nationalist’ agenda in post-transformation countries will be discussed in ordert o identify formats and strategies for citizenship education actors. The Round Table aims at taking stock of the dynamics of the political regression in Europe and at assessing what lies ahead. Consequently, it will discuss strategies how to join forces and develop spaces and strategies of solidarity across borders in the field of citizenship education and civil society.
