5-6 September 2018 in Marseille (France)
Venue: Friche la Belle de Mai, 41 Rue Jobin, 13003 Marseille
In the run-up to the conference, NECE offers a warm-up workshop on the relevance of digitisation – one of three main conference topics. To further deepen the discussion and to analyze European perspectives on this topic, the warm-up will focus exclusively on digitisation and connected questions, tasks, challenges and problems that civic education is facing.
What is it about?
Digitisation is one of the most popular topics today. New technologies are supposed to revolutionise the labour market, Big Data is called 21st century’s oil and neurosciences are starting to link human beings with machines. At the same time, elections are being influenced via social media, the public sphere is turning to new means of communication and Fake News and Hate speech are more and more widespread.
Within this warm-up, we would like to bring about and support a European debate in order to establish a focused discussion about the possibilities and challenges associated with digital technologies in the field of civic education.
Questions might be: How can we use new technologies in order to adapt to common receptive behavior? Which methods and tools can help civic education? How is digitisation perceived in different parts of Europe / of the world? Is there a European perspective and how can we support it?
